About the Program
Greeting
Thank you for visiting the J-SCC website.
Semiconductors account for more than half of Jeju's exports, but until now there have been few opportunities in Jeju to learn chip design, verification and measurement and to build a career on them.
J-SCC was started by Jeju National University together with Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, local companies and research institutes to help open that path. We will add practical courses to the regular curriculum so that participants can experience everything themselves, from simulation to chip measurement. Our doors are wide open not only to electronics majors but to students from other schools in Jeju, working engineers and anyone who would like to learn about semiconductors first-hand.
Our motto is Open Access, Jeju Silicon. Just as Jeju is an island that people from almost anywhere can enter without a visa, we would like the path into semiconductors to be just as open. We are trying design courses built on open PDKs and open-source EDA tools, hands-on sessions with real process equipment, entry courses that start with Arduino and FPGA boards, and online theory courses that anyone can take. Starting in Jeju and widening to all of Korea, we also welcome international students, researchers and engineers from anywhere in the world.
We hope that those who learn and grow here will go on to make their mark in Jeju and wherever they choose. Thank you for your interest and support.
Principal Investigator, J-SCC
Vision and goals
A region where a Jeju-fit semiconductor talent system takes root, and where settling locally and industry linkage grow together
Engineers trained in Jeju go on to work in Jeju and anywhere in the world
A model in which the region and the university grow together
Motto — Open Access, Jeju Silicon
